Cypripedium kentuckiense Our Cypripedium kentuckiense...

Cypripedium kentuckiense is commonly known as the Kentucky Lady's Slipper. The plant generally has a single large light yellow to cream colored slipper flower. The sepals and petals are usually vividly striped in a aubergine/pinkish-maroon to chocolate color. The plant blooms for approximately 2 weeks in late Spring to early Summer. Cypripedium kentuckiense has one of the largest and most beautiful flowers of the ladyslipper.group. This species is likely the most climatically adaptable of the genus and can grow from Northern New England to Northern Mississippi. Although quite rare in its native range , Cypripedium kentuckiense is relatively easy to grow in regular neutral to slightly acid woodland conditions.

USDA Growing Zones
Recommended optimal USDA zones are 3 to 7 (Perhaps 8) Plants are capable of growing in zone 8 with extra shade and attention to choosing a cooler north facing growing environment. Very adaptable to garden culture in many areas.
